British Invasion

In our mission to make our modern high-rise apartment feel more like a cottage, Britain’s House to Home is one of the first places we go when we need decorating inspiration.

I love the feminine, floral and full-of-color-and-pattern aspects of British interior design. Gwyneth just loves integrating some of her (Yorkshire) heritage at home. And as North Carolina girls transplanted in NYC (who can never settle on just one style), we love that British interior design mixes romantic with rustic and old with new. Plus, we think rooms that take the “anything and everything goes” approach feel lived in and full of personality. (And that’s what all of this is about anyway, right?)

If you’ve seen our kitchen, you know we love hanging plates on the wall. But we also love these prominent (and often mixed) florals:

We also can’t get enough of the way these homes mix traditional silhouettes with contemporary patterns and materials.

Naturally we adore the bright pink kitchen!

But what we think is most impressive about British design is the way these homes balance colors, patterns and texture with light and airy spaces. This window treatment reminds us of our bedroom canopy, but Gwyneth and I could use a little more of this lighter look throughout our space.

When can we move in??
