From Tip to Toe

Wondering what five feet, eleven-and-a-half inches of embellishment looks like? You’ve come to the right place. At first glance, today’s outfit is basic black and white. But a sparkly manicure and a studded pair of tights pack a punch from tip to toe.

You know Gwyneth and I love a good DIY, but we have yet to master any kind of DIY nail art suitable for leaving our apartment. Now that we’ve discovered ImPRESS Press-on Manicure kits, we don’t have to miss out on the trend.

We know what you’re thinking, but (with love) we’re here to tell you – you’re wrong. Press-on nail kits have come a long way from the ones I (unsuccessfully) begged my Mom to buy me in the 80′s. They’re thin, they’re short and they don’t pop off – even after a week of wearing them! Best of all, they give you ten additional opportunities to embellish any outfit. We love the edge the TGIF style gives this one!

Shopping Guide:
1. TGIF Press-on Manicure c/o ImPRESS (available at Walgreens)

So there you go – two ways to bedazzle your basics! Happy Thursday, pretties!

  1. Wait a minute ….dress worn as a skirt….but your top looks so smooth. Is the top to the dress actually under the black and white top, or is it folded down or what? AND press-on nails for a week…OK, I am going to give them a try. I seem to remember them coming off and flying across the room in junior high and some guy walking up and saying, ” I, uh, found your, uh fingernail…..er, whatever.” I died.

    • Meredith & Gwyneth says:

Morning, JTC! Here’s the secret – the belt. I pulled the top down so it was smooth, then folded it under at the bottom so it hit where I wanted it to. Then the belt keeps it in place! Let us know what you think about the nails! I’ve tried them several times and never had a “flying across the room” incident (thank goodness)! Plus, they come with a few extras – I stash them in my purse just in case.

I am totally coveting your J. Crew pave link bracelet!
I always wondered how the dress worn as a skirt worked, I see it all the time on blogs. I am afraid the “fold under the belt solution” would add about 5″ to my waistline, though.

Do you read the Luella & June blog? She has pink studded Valentino pumps on her site today, as well as a really cool potential DIY involving gold. Right up your alley! And she’s a southerner, too!

    • Meredith & Gwyneth says:

HA! You are too funny! We had the same concerns about bulk. We cinched that belt on tight!
We do not read Luella & June, but we will now! Headed over right this minute to check out those pink studded shoes. Thanks for the tip!
And as for the J.Crew bracelet – we longed for it forever before buying it. We waited because it is SO pricey. But (as you have seen), I wear it every single day! Can’t recommend it highly enough!

  3. Wow, you have always looked tall to me. But 5′ 11 1/2″ is really tall! My 5′ 4″ self is jealous.

    • Meredith & Gwyneth says:

Jake, that’s barefoot. With heels, it can get a little ridiculous! And THAT makes me very jealous of your 5’4″ self!

  4. I have a friend who is 6′ 1″. She says she is 5′ 13″ tall.

  5. I HAVE to say that I think a tall girl is a ROCK STAR!!!! I would LOVE to be tall!!! At 5’5″ and shrinking, it is only in my dreams. You pull it off with aplomb!!! Thanks for holding your head high, throwing those shoulders back and strutting your glorious STUFF!!! What a BLESSING!!!!
