Splurges vs. Steals – The LRD

We believe there is one item that should hang in the closet of every woman on the planet. With flats, a blazer and a leather tote, it works in the office. With heels, statement jewelry and a clutch, it’s ready for a night out. There’s a style that looks great on any body shape you can imagine.  Essentially, having one of these in your inventory gives you the option to put together a look that’s powerful, ladylike, preppy, glamorous or anything your little heart desires – except for boring.

You don’t think we’re talking about the LBD, do you? Come on, y’all know us better than that! We’re talking about it’s extroverted sister, the Little Red Dress.

Shopping Guide:
Garnet and Earrings (similar -fine jewelry- style at Fine Jewelers / similar -fashion jewelry- style at Bauble Bar)
Black Halo Jackie O Dress from Gena Chandler
Michael Kors Watch from Charlotte’s

Valentino Bow Bag from Gena Chandler
OPI Nail Polish in You Don’t Know Jaques! from Drugstore.com
Jimmy Choo Black Pumps from Nordstrom

Gwyneth and I believe in the versatility of the LRD so much that we made an investment in ours several years ago. (That they keep making the same dress year after year tells us we’re not alone in considering it a classic!) For those of you can afford to splurge, we’ve got a few of our favorites for you here. Fellow friends on a budget, we would never leave you out! We’ve got some red hot steals for you too! So either way, there’s a peplum, body con, full skirted, knit, lace or tied-up-in-a-bow option that’s not asking, but telling you to bring it home.

  1. What a fabulous dress! I can see it with a bright belt and shoes……maybe purple or even hot pink…..or even better – leopard!!

    • Meredith & Gwyneth says:

JTC, you are full of great ideas, but a pink patent belt with that dress might be your best one yet! Love that subtle colorblocking suggestion! So smart!

  2. Matllda Joyce says:

Naturally, my favorite is even more expensive than the McQueen :( but i love all of them. You didn’t mention it, but your dress, in particular, looks like it could be worn all 4 seasons, which really makes it a workhorse in your closet.

    • Meredith & Gwyneth says:

Funny how that seems to work out, right?!? You have excellent taste :)
And you are right – our Black Halo is a year-round workhorse for sure. We think the rest of them could be too – since they’re all classics (in our book, at least)!

  3. Hadn’t seen you in my Google Reader feed for a while- not sure what happened but I had to subscribe again. I thought you were taking a break. I have some catching up to do!

    • Meredith & Gwyneth says:

Hi Carrie! So glad you subscribed again! We think we lost a few people when we moved from Blogger to WordPress. Trying to figure that one out! Thanks so much for keeping us in mind and coming by!

      xoxo,
