Blogger Crush: Brooke from StyleWise

We are so excited to have Brooke, the voice behind StyleWise, over for a little Q&A today! Brooke’s eye for decorating, classic-with-a-twist approach to  getting dressed, tips for getting her Victoria’s-Secret-model hair and adorable King Charles sidekick, Tucker make Stylewise one of our daily reads. You’re gonna love her!

When did you start blogging and what inspired you to do it?

I originally started blogging in May of 2011 which consisted of 2 blog posts about hairstyles. That summer I became ADDICTED to Pinterest…before I knew it I had accumulated over 80 boards and I found myself in conversations about my “pins” at social events. At that point I was already an avid blog reader and became incredibly inspired to give it a go myself. About 8 months later and lots of encouragement from friends, family and acquaintances StyleWise organically became the fashion and lifestyle blog it is today. I love having a creative outlet to share my finds, ideas and excitement over fashion, interior design and life happenings.

How would you describe your personal style?

I tend to mix trendy with classic. I like to have fun getting dressed…I think of it as an activity and love trying new and different things. Lately I find myself drawn to a feminine dress or top with an edgy touch like a chic bootie, a little fur, leather jacket and layers of bracelets and necklaces. I have been considered a bit of a bracelet hoarder by my friends since before it was cool. I would like to sincerely thank Leandra Medine, Man Repeller, for making “arm parties” a thing.

Do you see similarities between the way you dress and the way you decorate?

Absolutely! Just as in my wardrobe I mix the high with the low in home accessories and furniture. I have my beautiful dining table and chairs that were investment pieces and then I have my white Ikea sofa and chairs in my sitting area. I love having people over and entertaining so it’s great that I don’t have to stress about any overserved peeps spilling red wine! It is so important to me that the way I dress is true to who I am and the same goes for our home. I always want my home to feel comfortable yet interesting!

What are your favorite steals for the closet and the home?

My favorite home steals are from One King’s Lane, Joss & Main, Z Gallerie and Home Goods! The best steals for my closets are definitely from Forever 21, ASOS, Etsy, Top Shop, Piperlime & Zara. I get super excited about a good deal and I rarely ever buy anything at full price.

How about the splurges?

My husband jokes that no matter what we are shopping for I always have an eye for the most expensive things! I will splurge on a handbag, timeless dress or leather jacket, but, like I said I love a good deal and rarely buy things full price. So for splurges my go-to’s are Shopbop sales, Revolve Clothing, Neiman Marcus sales, Moda Operandi and Net-a-Porter. My favorite designer splurges would be on Tibi, Alexander Wang, Charlotte Olympia, DVF or Stella McCartney.

Who are your style icons?

Miroslava Duma, Bianca Brandolini, Poppy Delevigne, Olivia Palermo, Rachel Bilson along with many of my incredibly stylish blogger friends.

We need to talk about your hair. It’s amazing. Please let us in on your secret – we need to know.

Oh my gosh, you are too sweet! I LOVE hair products. Stockpiling products is probably one of my biggest indulgences! Luckily Amazon.com is a great source and has amazing prices. I wash my hair 3 times a week because I have such dry hair! I find it looks better a few days in to be honest! I just started using Kerastase Nutritive Bain Nutri shampoo and conditioner which I LOVE!  I also use It’s a 10 Miracle Hair Mask twice a week. I swear by the “It’s a 10″ products…the leave-in treatment is my very favorite.

If you found an extra $50 in a coat pocket, what would you buy? What if you found $500?

Hmmm this is a good one! If I found $50 I would probably buy a fabulous coffee table book or Bauble Bar statement necklace. If I found $500 I would put it towards buying a fabulous pair of Charlotte Olympia shoes or these See By Chloe fold-over suede and leather boots and then have a little leftover for some fun earrings!

Shopping Guide:
Sapphire Taylor Bib from BaubleBar
See by Chloe Foldover Suede and Leather Boots from Net-A-Porter

With the holidays right around the corner, what’s your favorite holiday party look?

Lulu Frost Navette Burst Earrings from J. Crew
Mossimo Glitter Turnlock Flap Clutch from Target (a dead ringer for this Anya Hindmarch from Net-A-Porter)

This one’s for Tucker from Gwyneth – what are you hoping Santa will bring you this year?

Oh! I really hope I get more yummy treats and toys. I can never have too many toys! I choose a new favorite everyday so the more the merrier! I would REALLY love a brother or sister! I am thinking maybe a Ruby cavalier would be a fun playmate. Mom and Dad said maybe in a few years!
