DIY Glitter Ornaments

If youve seen our holiday mantle, tree or vignettes, then youve seen a few of our DIY glitter ornaments. This year we set out to spread the holiday spirit throughout our apartment while using the supplies we had on hand. Chances are you have many or all of the things you need to make these super-easy ornaments yourself!

Heres what you need:

  1. 3 Styrofoam balls
  2. Spray adhesive
  3. Glitter
  4. Craft Glue
  5. Grosgrain ribbon (one 6 piece for each ornament)
  6. Long pearlized pins
  7. Your choice of embellishments holly, greenery, ribbon, etc.

Our first step was to make a huge mess! We emptied out our random box of craft supplies & embellishments to see what we had to work with.

Then we stuck plastic utensils in each styrofoam ball and coated it with spray adhesive. We used the same cardboard box technique from our DIY Glitter Booties to contain the mess.

Then we coated each styrofoam ball with a generous dose of gold glitter.

After shaking off the excess glitter, we used craft glue and pins to attach a loop of grosgrain ribbon.

And finally for the good part then we went crazy gluing on our embellishments.

We used one of our ornaments as a topper for the tree on our mantle.

And the others went in the ceramic bathtub for a holiday bathroom vignette!

How easy was that?

xoxo,

mk & Gwynnie
