Small Space Holiday Decor: Vignettes

Our holiday decorating doesn’t stop at the Christmas Tree & Mantle we shared with you earlier this week! We created a few vignettes (the home accessory lover’s best friend) to add small doses of Christmas sparkle around our apartment, and we’re excited to share them with you today!

Our new Dumpster Dive Chest of Drawers became the perfect home for our entryway vignette. We pulled out a brass Diane von Furstenberg tray and loaded it up with another candle wrapped with berry garland, our bowl of put-a-smile-on-your-face fortunes and Gwyneth’s jar of homemade dog treats. As you can see, Gwyneth’s treat jar got an accessory of its own – Here’s the tutorial we used to DIY a yarn pom-pom. The photo to the right is our favorite holiday photo ever taken – Dad goofing off at Christmas dinner a few years ago. We look forward to pulling it out each year.

In the bathroom, the ceramic tub that usually holds soaps got filled with DIY glitter ornaments. (We’ll share the DIY with you soon!)

And while we don’t have a partridge in a pear tree, we do have a ceramic bird in an Expedit room divider. More accessorizing of the accessories! These little wreaths take about thirty seconds to make. If you can spare a small sprig of faux garland, just form it into a circle and twist the wire ends to secure. Twist on a piece of berry garland, and you have yourself a mini wreath to give any animal figurine a Christmas outfit!

Since we split up our two table-top Christmas trees to make a bigger impact with the decorations we had on hand, we decided to use one in a vignette for our nightstand. We used Mod Podge and gold glitter to add sparkle to a few candles (tutorial we used here) and pulled a scarf out of the closet to serve as a mini tree skirt.

The last of our leftover berry garland went inside the two hurricanes on the shelf above our headboard.

With these five vignettes, we added small doses of holiday spirit to every area of our tiny apartment! And by shopping our home accessories, craft supplies and even our closet, our new holiday decorations came in at the bargain price of $0.00!

Stay tuned for a few more ideas on small-space, low-budget holiday decor and DIYs coming soon!
