Now that awards season is in full swing, you can’t check out at the grocery store or turn on the news (E! News is the news, right?) without seeing photos of celebrities looking even better than usual. And while we love seeing the stars walk the red carpet, we don’t post “best dressed” recaps here because it’s just not that practical for those of us who don’t have a glam squad.
But there are some days when each of us walk our own red carpet, even when that red carpet is actually the pavement we’re pounding on the way to work. Because just like the stars turn it up for their special events, we all have days worthy of a little extra event prep. I had one of those days last week – my birthday! And if there’s ever a day when it’s worth a little extra time primping, it would be the day you turn a year older. So while my outfit was made up of a leather jacket and an arm party of chain link bracelets instead of an evening gown and Harry Winston jewels, I thought I’d step up my beauty regimen for my special event.
I woke up a little early and gave my hair a boost with Pantene Damage Detox Weekly Rehab Creme, treated my skin to Olay Sensitive Body Wash, whitened my teeth with Crest 3D Whitestrips Professional Effects while I put on my makeup and pumped up my lashes with the two formulas of COVERGIRL Bombshell Volume Mascara. And since I’m now 34, I shopped my closet for an outfit that felt just grown up enough.
