{DIY} Dumpster Dive Kitchen Dresser

Earlier this month, Gwyneth found the Dumpster Dive find of the century on one of our Sunday afternoon walks. Most of the Dumpster Dive furniture we find and makeover is of the Ikea variety and while were big believers in Ikea hacks, finding real wood furniture with great bones is a true treasure. After a little sanding, painting and hardware updating, we turned the beast last seen here into a beauty (and a kitchen-storage-dream-come-true)!

The drawers hold dishes, serving ware and other entertaining essentials, and we are thrilled for the extra counter space that now doubles as a bar. We used another Dumpster Dive find as a bar in our last San Francisco apartment, but we put it back in the bedroom as a nightstand in our current space and have been missing our entertaining area. Now weve got plenty of space to serve cocktails and its already gotten some good use with our San Francisco friends.

Other than sanding and painting (we used Benjamin Moores Potpourri the same color we used for our pink interior door in NYC), we updated the hardware with Chippendale pulls and mini knobs from House of Antique Hardware. (The tutorial for the tassel hanging from one of the knobs can be found here.)

Lastly, we had some extra wrapping paper on hand, so decided to use it on the sides of the drawers for a fun surprise when the drawers are open.

As you can see, theres not a lot to our kitchen (its probably the least exciting part of our Nob Hill apartment), but we think our new Dumpster Dive Dresser gives the space a much-needed boost!

We think well celebrate with a cocktail!
